Prime Timers Richmond & Tidewater

By, Gene Hall

Prime Timers are older gay or bisexual men who enrich their social lives, engage in diverse activities and enjoy opportunities and friendships with other Prime Timers throughout the world. The organization is emerging as a leading force in the gay and bisexual communities with over 75 chapters throughout North America and Australia.

Tidewater Prime Timers of SE Virginia

This chapter of PTWW serves the Virginia Beach, Chesapeake and Norfolk areas. What makes this chapter unique is the diversity of our members. We truly come from all walks of life. Some of us are thin and some of us are not. Alas, most of us have lost a considerable amount of hair. But what we have not lost is our love of life or respect for our fellow man. We are a club that tries to see the greater good in all men. What we all have learned from our time on this planet is to seek comfort in each other despite, or perhaps because of, our different life journeys. As older gay men, we take great pleasure in educating younger gay men. Our motto is, and always shall be: "We are the generation that got you here."

Prime Timers—Central Virginia

Prime Timers—Central Virginia (PTCV) is a local chapter of the Prime Timers World Wide (PTWW) organization. In the fall of 2002, a group of 18 men met to establish a local chapter for the Richmond area. That chapter just celebrated its 15th anniversary and now boasts over 120 members! PTCV brings together mature gay and bisexual men, 21 and over, for friendship, personal growth, activities and support. PTCV is a great place for meeting people and making long-lasting friendships.

We have numerous weekly and monthly activities. This includes a monthly meeting with a speaker or pot luck dinner, weekly dining opportunities, bowling outings, movie nights, etc. We always encourage our members to come up with new ideas as we diversify both our membership and activities.
