If you’re looking for fun activities to do, then you’ll have to come back more than once to try them all. Take the world-famous Appalachian Trail, for instance. It crosses 14 states including Virginia and usually takes hikers around 6 months to complete. Even just taking in the Virginia-based trails to Spy Rock and Mount Rogers will take some time and provide a breathtaking experience. There’s a two-mile climb from the Montebello Fish Hatchery, and when you reach Spy Rock you’ll be greeted by amazing panoramic views, which are a perfect place for a proposal if you’re the type who enjoys the great outdoors.

Perhaps a two-mile hike isn’t enough for you, though. To challenge yourself, why not try out the Virginia Creeper Trail, a 34.4-mile trail, that can be used by hikers, bikers and horseback riders. Don’t worry though, this trail isn’t haunted by ghosts or other supernatural entities. You can hike all the way from Abingdon, to Whitetop Station on Whitetop Mountain. The mountain is Virginia’s second highest peak. If you’re looking for stunning views and a real glimpse of mother nature and her power, then hiking in Virginia is something you need to experience.

Other Outdoor Activities

Hikes are just one thing that Virginia offers. There are also a wide range of beaches to visit, where you’ll be able to learn how to surf. For those that enjoy adventure and adrenaline, there are also mountain biking trails of varying difficulties for all to enjoy, as well as the more leisurely rides available on the Creeper Trail.
